What You Eat Controls What You Feel

Emotional sobriety includes healing mind, body, and soul. Nothing is as important toward our overall health as the food we eat. I will be writing about this every month. Today’s post is an introduction to how food affects our well-being. Having suffered from inflammation and arthritis in 2018 so badly that I, a 78 year old female, had to be bed-ridden to ease the pain, I decided to make my body as inflammation free as possible in 2019.

January 17, 2019, I switched to a plant-based diet. I am not a vegan as I eat some meat and fish for part of my protein. I am on what is labeled the flexitarian food plan because my food choices are flexible. I eat generally 90% daily plant-based foods and 10% non plant-based.

Three days after I switched to plant-based, most of my arthritis pain was gone. Inflammation is our body’s response to physical medical conditions. If we are ailing someway–cancer, arthritis, diabetes, etc.–our body sends in the troops which is labeled inflammation. But I have long suspected that the inflammation then becomes the problem instead of the savior.

I am absolutely convinced everyone would be healthier eating more plants and less man altered food.
